Munchkin Day (2002)

This was the original celebratory street party in honour of the fact that all the people living in the area are basically nice friendly neighbours. It was November, it was raining, there were around 100 people who turned up. Ages ranged from babies to grandmothers. Food and drink was brought along in generous quantity. Joe supplied music sourced from local favourites. Also introduced was the concept of the “Gingerbread Munchkin”.

Munchkin Day 2 (2003)

The date for the second Munchkin Day was moved to coincide with the actual date that everyone in the neighbourhood was nice, October 21st. Joe once again manned the turntables, and Tim and Laura performed a “Munch & Judy” show accompanied by music from Matthew.

Munchkin Day 3 (2004)

Munchkin Day 4 (2005)

Munchkin Day 5 (2006)

Chough dance.

Munchkin Day 6 (2007)

Munchkin Day 7 (2008)

Pantomime horse racing.

Munchkin Day 8 (2009)

12-10-2009 Email: Congratulations

I am the neighbour from Trebarveth up above on the Hill. Just writing to say how much we enjoyed this year's Munchkin celebrations. We have been to all Munchkin Doos from the very start and would like to say that they have changed and improved every year. Is this good enough to be told the password? Another simple and honest reason is that we are extremely nosey neighbours.

Anyway the Cancer Research has benefitted by the betting system once again and seriously very much appreciates this year's winnings which amounted to £108.89.

An official thank you will follow on paper to the organisers from the CRUK committee's secretary shortly. We would also like to officially thank the 2 lovely children, perfectly under control who so ably and seriously explained the betting and exchange rate into munchkin currency.

A very enjoyable feast of an evening. Many thanks.
Helen K

12-10-2009 The day after the day after.

Generally considered a success, Munchkin Day is finished for another year. Much wild betting on the horse (and elephant) races produced a handsome profit for Cancer Research.

01-10-2009 Update

The Munchkinfest Committee of Elders will be meeting soon in a secret location to determine the final details of the upcoming celebration.

30-09-2009 Transcript of invite

Once again again we invite you to our feast of Beauty & Friendship. There will be handmade entertainments and the usual provision of fine ales & grills. Thanks to all who brought extra to cool, eat & drink. You can do it again if you like.

¡Great News from Europe!

Elephants have been reclassified as Racehorses! Dress as a horse and you may win the coveted Electric Carrot trophy. There were 22 entries last year! As no clear winner emerged (it was dark), there was no payout to the backers. This resulted in a perfect profit for the race organisers who gave it all to Cancer Research.

News this year is our website MunchkinDay.com.

25-08-2009 Early news

Early reports suggest that this year’s event will be held on an unusually early 10th of October. As usual, if anyone has skills (or just hands or even cash for beer, wood etc.) that they wish to donate to the cause, it will all be graciously accepted. Work will be going on to set up the site in the days before, but mostly in the morning and afternoon of the day itself, so please get there early to help if you can.

Plase bring some food and drink to add to the pile, as well as an elephant or a horse to enter into the race in the evening.

Check back regularly for more information. More to come later.
